It found that the most significant reason why some men continue to commit physical violence against women (VAW) is a result of older age, depression, men who are involved in fights with weapons, traditional gender norms and beliefs that permit violence against women, exposure to intra-parental violence, and inequitable GEM score were significant risk factors for perpetuating violence. 31% of men has self-reported violence against their partner at some point in their lifetime. This study is based on IMAGES study table 3 for all country samples, n = 7806. The highest 4 AORs were witness of intra-parental violence (2.53), people involved in fights (2.38), age 40-59 (1.88), and permissive attitude towards women (1.70). The GEM score (mean) ranked 0.89. The study also found that some countries, like India and the Democratic Republic of Congo, have a higher incidence than others. So, childhood experiences, gender inequality and others listed above agree with the result.The study supports the hypothesis that there are specific causes that lead men to commit physical violence against their intimate partners like older age, depression, men who are involved in fights with weapons, traditional gender norms and beliefs that permit violence against women, exposure to intra-parental violence, and inequitable GEM score. They found that younger men, married or unmarried, are less likely to commit VAW. To address risk factors, we need to involve men more in women’s health, especially during pregnancy, labor, and delivery through post-partum, adopt gender inequality and violence prevention strategies in our communities, build awareness, and promote healthy relationships and habits. If gender violence is reduced, gender equality will increase, which will be an outstanding achievement globally and break intergenerational gender norms and promote the health and well-being of women. Mass media can be used to disperse information. Teaching can be involve in school curriculums. In the future, we need to expand efforts like the IMAGES and UN Multi-country Study in our communities in more countries so that policies, interventions, and future research on VAW and gender will be established. Regular surveys of outcomes should be done periodically to track progress. That said, the public need to be aware of VAW and its effects on women, our communities, and globally.ScienceHealth ScienceNursing
