SIGNIFICANT STATEMENTS FORMULATED MEANINGS

I: When typhoon Maring hit your place Auntie, what happened here?

P: There was nothing that your uncle got from fishing because it was too scary to go fishing that time because there were strong winds and heavy rains…what if…

I: What did you do Auntie when you were so scared and worried?

P: When we evacuated, we just stayed there because we were prohibited to go out. We were just praying, “please God stop the typhoon now” …that’s what we were praying.

I: Did you receive any relief goods after the storm. Auntie?

P: None…the truth my child is…they only give you relief goods if you are in the evacuation center.

P: Through God’s mercy, our house did not incur any damage no matter how strong the rains and the winds were that time, only my ornamental plants, some of them were broken, thank God we are safe. Now my ornamental plants are looking good again because I planted some new plants again. Whenever your uncle goes fishing, I make myself busy by planting.

I: But why did you not evacuate this time, Auntie, especially that you also have small children with you.

P: It’s because we can feel and observe too if we really need to evacuate or not, whether the typhoon is strong or not. Actually, the only thing that worries us is the water from the river. So in case the water rises, we are already ready, one time to carry everything with water and foods good for one or two days.

I: Ay, so you were not able to sleep at that time, Auntie?

P: Not at all, my child. Especially because the winds and rains were very strong at that time
